The Lab Facilities Management event was held for the first time 2007 in Port Elizabeth. The event has moved to Gauteng this year as we have been unable to get the same venue. The purpose of this event is to deepen and strengthen the bonds that exist within this community, by bringing people together once a year to talk, listen, share ideas, discuss experiences, plan collaborations, and learn from one another. There are no costs of attendance: travel and accommodation expenses are funded by TENET, and the only institutional commitment is the time and willingness of staff to share their experience with the rest of the community.
NB Please read the fine print below:
-
Registration will close on the 31st March 2008 i.e. 2 weeks prior to the event or when 40 attendees have registered.
-
Delegates should make their own air travel arrangements, and DITCHE will refund them after the event according to the standard claims procedure. ( http://www.tenet.ac.za/ditche/claim-procedure )
-
Registered delegates who cancel after 31st March 2007 (or who don't arrive) will be required to reimburse TENET conference and meal costs . Medical and other human emergencies are the only grounds for exemption.
-
Each Institution must offer at least one presentation.
-
By registering you affirm that you have the agreement of your management for your attendance at the event..
Transport:
The hotel will provide a shuttle service from OR Tambo. You are requested to submit your flight details at least 1 week before the event. TENET will not refund claims for car hire.
Accommodation has been booked for the evenings of the 14th and 15th April and has already been paid for by TENET. All attendees are expected to stay at the hotel as this facilitates networking.
Presenting is an important skill to acquire and presenting to your peers can be daunting, but it is part of building your network of contacts and of building a community of practice.
Attendees are requested to submit the titles of their presentations at least 2 weeks before the event i.e. by the 31st March.
Please email the title of your presentation to ghoy at tenet.ac.za with labfacman in the subject line. The sooner you return this the sooner the programme can be published.
DITCHE ("Developing IT Capacity in Higher Education") is a donor-funded capacity development program run by TENET. The program was made possible by the generosity of two US donor foundations - the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Atlantic Philanthropies - and it aims to nurture the community of practice of IT professionals in public higher education by making professional development resources available at no cost. This event is intended for higher education IT staff who have a substantial responsibility for deploying or managing information technology, in the widest sense of the word, ranging from the purely technical domain to architectural and conceptual issues.
