SEACOM restoration expected 23 July 2010

SEACOM have advised that the physical repairs to the fault on the submarine cable are in the final stages of completion with the entire system currently undergoing testing before the cable is lowered back into the water. All connectivity going out of Africa is expected to be fully restored on 23 July 2010.

SANReN National Backbone Network

The completion of the SANReN National Backbone network is a momentous achievement and brings about dramatic increase in bandwidth and internet access to the research and education community.
      
DITCHE: DITCHE's goal is to nurture communities of practice in three key domains within South African public higher education: IT professionals, scholars and academics committed to using IT for educational and research purposes, and library and affiliated information professionals.

The DITCHE Program

DITCHE is a donor-funded capacity development program that aims to assist South African public higher education institutions to improve their use of Information Technology. DITCHE's goal is to nurture communities of practice in three key domains within South African public universities.
      

The GEN3 Network

TENET acts as the agent of those institutions of public higher education and research that have appointed it in securing Internet access and related services.

TENET is an honorary member of the Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA) and upholds ISPA's Code of Conduct.

TENET has nominated ISPA as its agent for the purpose of receiving take-down notifications in terms of Section 75 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

ITIL training

TENET is making substantial funds available, under the umbrella of its DITCHE program, for extensive training in ITIL for IT Departments in South African public higher education in 2007-2009.
