ORCID Consortium update and news - February

Members & support

The South African consortium has just welcomed it's tenth member, with a couple of others in the pipeline.

We've started an ORCID-specific section on TENET's web page, which currently includes information on the consortium itself as well as some useful links to resources both at orcid.org and from some of the other consortiums. We'd eventually like to include some South African specific uses cases and success stories there too.

We're pleased to announce we've recently appointed two staff members at TENET whose roles will include providing local ORCID support. Both come out of the higher education sector and already have some ORCID experience - however, together with ORCID, we'll also be facilitating some additional training for them.

Webinars

ORCID runs frequent, recurring webinars for members covering various aspects. The next of these is entitled "Getting started with your ORCID integration" and is on 14 February at 11AM South African time. This is an introductory webinar to discuss the ORCID API and how to establish and communicate your integration. Please register here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1432151667052547075.

Integrations

We are here to support your ORCID integration and outreach activities. If you have any questions or need help getting started please contact us.

Remember that if you are using one of the ORCID enabled systems, you can get production credentials and integrate immediately. If you would like to start testing the API, you can request sandbox credentials.

Events

Many of you would have attended the ORCID South Africa workshop in Jo’burg in October last year. The presentations from that event are available on figshare.

In January ORCID hosted its first consortia workshop in Lisbon, which both TENET and the NRF attended. You can read more about it on this blog: https://orcid.org/blog/2018/01/31/five-key-takeaways-orcids-first-consortia-workshop
